It may surprise you to read, but sex and porn addiction it is not an actual diagnosis. Disease classification systems exclude it due to a lack of scientific evidence. And for some men, self-identifying as a sex or porn addict has been shown to increases pain and suffering over time.
I use the term problem sexual behaviours to describe those urges, thoughts or behaviours that may feel confusing or out of control - and more often than not - a variation of healthy human sexuality. My approach integrates evidence-based techniques with a holistic sexual health perspective, considering emotional, physical, and relational factors.
Whether you're dealing with problem sexual behaviours, sexual difficulties or just seeking to better understand your sexuality, I tailor sessions to your unique needs, fostering growth and self-awareness. I also work with men who have sexually offended offline and online, have been accused of sexual offending or who pose a sexual risk (COFRA 121 programme).
My approach is trauma-informed: drawing upon relevant fields, such as evolutionary science, polyvagal theory, attachment theory, and inhibitory learning theory; trauma-aware: attuned to the possible role of trauma in a wide range of clinical issues; and trauma-sensitive: alert to the risks of experiential work.
If any of this resonates with you, I invite you to connect and learn more about how we could work together.
